		Area of application: The XS4 MIDI interface is an electronic board which permits the user to remotely control the switches of a certain device. The XS4 MIDI interface was developed specially for retrofitting guitar amps. Other uses are of course possible. The XS4 MIDI interface can switch up to four functions of the device. It can also be expanded using up to 3 XS4+ expansion cards, each permitting four further switches. In this way, the user has the possibility to switch up to 16 functions. On guitar amps for example, channels, effect loops and other functions can be switched on or off, or the amp can be muted in order to tune the guitar. The settings can be stored. The switches can also be manually operated at any time, of course.



		Function: An individual setting of the switches can be stored for each of the 128 different MIDI program numbers. When choosing a program number, the interface recalls the stored setting of the switches. In addition, the switches can be controlled directly, in 2 different ways, depending on the software version: XR: (standard version) The switches can be turned on and off directly using Control Changes commands. (e.g. each switch of the Foot Controller X07 directly controls a switch at the amplifier). XS: The switches can be controlled using note on/off commands (key board). The switches can be assigned thereby to any key alternatively as push button or toggle switch.

The XS4 MIDI interface is equipped with the Prostage XLR connector. The Prostage BlackLine Foot Controllers can be connected directly to the interface (no XTM adapter is required) using a normal microphone cable. The XS4 also supplies the Foot Controller with power.

Besides the XLR socket, the interface also includes a standard MIDI in socket and a MIDI thru socket. The MIDI thru socket can, for example, be used to attach an effect device which also requires switching.
